Jody and I had a nice walk through Belhaven and walked up to Fondren to see his potential new house. We walked a little ways and ran a little and even got told hello by a fellow Marathon Makeover person--Merrill McKewen--I think I mispelled both of her names. Then I came home to gather up all the stuff I made for snacks/dinner for the board meeting at the temple tonight. This included a loaded cooler with ice and drinks which I had no choice but to lift by myself up into my van. Actually, one of my neighbors was out across the street and I should have asked her but I didn't. Thank goodness our custodian was available when I got to temple to help me get it out!
I think I might order some Strassburg socks today to see if that helps with my plantar fasciitis. They only have the large ones at Fleet Feet and they are too big for my darling, petite little legs and feet--hah, my feet are bigger than some men that I know! I also encourage the ones of you whose feet are hurting to consider new shoes. If they hurt from blisters, that's one thing, but if you just have generalized pain, your shoes might be worn out again! I have bought some new ones that I am holding as long as I can before I wear them, but I got them out of the box and looked at the bottom of them and at the bottom of the old ones, and I could see a LOT of wear on the old ones. And my feet are beginning to be sore in various places, sort of like bone bruises, sort of like they began to feel last year before the marathon where I ended up with a stress fracture. So, BE KIND TO YOUR FEET as we have three more really long runs--20, 22, and 26.2!!!!

I didn't realize how worn my shoes were until I compared them to the new ones. good for you for sticking with the program. All I know about the Belhaven area is the infamous 1 mile we did there at the beginning. I'm thinking about doing the half marathon in January.
Missed you in yoga! She made us do push-ups! I thought yoga was supposed to be relaxing....HA!!!! My arms feel like jello today, b/n yoga and lifting weights! UGH!!!!
Good luck with your plantar fasciitis...I had it for about 6 months and it HURTS! I slept with a splint for about 3 weeks which was not fun but I think it helped...the Strasburg sock should do the same thing. Did you miss running the marathon b/c of the stress fracture or did it develop during the marathon?
I had plantar fasciitis a while back and wore the sock every night. The best thing for me, though, was the stretching. That blue plastic ankle rocking thingie they have a Fleet Feet really helps (you can use it while sitting at work, etc.).
Actually, I became completely painfree when I was running with MM before my knee surgery, and I think the stretching I did before and after running/XT for 6 days a week is what worked. The pain is starting to come back when I get out of bed in the mornings because I haven't been stretching regularly for several weeks.
Stretch, use the blue thingie, and the sock at night and you will see improvement soon.

Don't fall for the Strassburg sock. I've had several friends try it and it really doesn't do what it is supposed to do. The strap is fastened just to the toe so all it does is pull your toes back, not your entire foot. If you had something to put in it, maybe a hard shoe insert, to help it bring your entire foot back, it would do better. Good luck with the plantar, I feel for you!!
